Retreat simply means to withdraw, draw back. Christian traditions have long seen this as an important part of formation. This is time set aside for God, which allows for a change our daily focus and a different style of contemplation. The process of undertaking a retreat whether it be for a day, week or month has always been central to the Ignatian spirituality.
We do not always have the resources of a spiritual director to guide this process. Very often we are alone but we can still make this important journey and try to re-engage with the tenants of our faith. Our Jesuit brothers have put together some important resources to follow a simple retreat online which you can follow. The essential thing is that you plan on how it can fit in your day, familiarise your self with the outline and find a quite comfortable place where you will not be disturbed.
You are also encouraged to explore the posibilty of a retreat on one of our spiriutal centres. Please go to our section on spiritual section.
